Dear Christian brothers and sisters, today I would like to discuss with you a serious sin, adultery. It is a sin that the Bible warns against many times. Adultery refers to sexual relations outside of marriage, which is considered a serious sin in the eyes of God.
Our Lord has commanded us to have a holy union between a man and a woman. He has commanded us to have sexual relations within this holy bond. When we engage in fornication, we are acting outside of God’s plan, outside of our purpose in life. This act destroys our relationship with God and we become emotionally and spiritually distant from God.
In the Bible, we find many examples of people who committed immoral acts like adultery and suffered a lot as punishment for it. These stories serve as a warning to us today. One such example is King David who committed adultery with Bathsheba and we see one tragic incident after another because of his actions. One of them was the death of an innocent child.
As Christians, we are called to live holy lives. We must try to flee from sexual immorality so that we can live according to God’s will. There may be temptations to commit sexual immorality in our lives, but we must protect our hearts and bodies from them. Those who have committed sexual immorality must ask God for forgiveness and repent. God will forgive them.
