Dear Christian brothers and sisters, sometimes we need to keep our mouths shut. The Bible teaches us that our words are very powerful. Our words can either build someone up or tear someone down. It is very important for us to know when to speak and when to keep quiet.
Sometimes we have to avoid saying things that we will regret later. When we are angry or in moments of frustration, we can say hurtful things that can never be taken back. And we have to regret it later. For example, when Jesus was falsely accused, he chose to remain silent. This teaches us how to remain silent at the right time.
Moreover, sometimes keeping our mouths shut can be a sign of humility and wisdom. Sometimes all we can do is listen. When we listen more and talk less, we gain wisdom and show respect for those around us. King Solomon, who was also endowed with great wisdom, often said to be slow to speak and quick to listen.
Dear brothers and sisters, let us sometimes try to control our tongues and be careful with our words. By doing this, we will honor God and give love to those around us. Remember, our words have the power to bring life or death. So let us use our words very carefully.
